10 Simple Tricks to Speed Up Your Computer

10 Simple Tricks to Speed Up         Your Computer

Using these 10 simple tricks, you can bring your sluggish PC back to its former peppy self. These tips are quick and easy to do, most using the help of free software.
Trick 1 - Always run an active virus scanner.
Whether you choose a free option or a paid subscription, active monitoring prevents many problems before they occur. If something does sneak through, you are already one-step closer to resolving the problem.
Trick 2 - Only install software that you trust and use regularly.
Many times a slow of a PC is the result of a too many programs running in the background. This is especially true of older PCs, as they tend to collect more and more programs and data as time goes on.
Trick 3 - Regular registry cleaning.
When you uninstall a program, there are often traces left in the Windows Registry. The Windows Registry is like a map, telling your computer where things are and how to use them. As the registry grows in size, so does the time it takes the computer to use it. Manual registry cleaning is not recommended, however, tools such as PC Tune Up can help safely keep your registry free of errors.

Trick 4 - Reboot your PC regularly.
With all the installs, uninstalls, updates and changes constantly occurring on your PC, it never hurts to give it a quick reboot. This ensures memory is available and any important system or application updates are applied.
Trick 5 - Cut down on graphical 'flair'.
Simply setting your Windows theme to classic or basic modes can free up a surprising amount of resources to give that extra zip back to your PC.
Trick 6 - Desktop Widgets.
These can add up to substantial memory and processor usage. Determine if the convenience of having them constantly on display is worth the loss of performance and remove unnecessary tools.
Trick 7 - Install Google Chrome.
If you have checked out this latest contender in the Internet Browser wars, take the few minutes to do so. While it may take a minute to figure out the subtle changes from your current browser, it is one the fastest and most responsive browsers available.
Trick 8 - Physically clean your PCs air intakes and exhausts.
When your computer gets too warm, it has to decrease performance to prevent damage. Avoid vacuums and liquids and they can create electrical issues. A small paintbrush will do the trick just fine.
Trick 9 - Keep your important programs up-to-date.
Simply find, and enable, the auto-update feature of your favorite programs. These updates are often important fixes or performance boosts.
Trick 10 - Update your graphics card drivers.
These days Intel, ATI or nVidia make most graphics cards. All three companies have easy-to-use websites that will detect your video card and update your drivers.
Follow these 10 simple tricks, and your computer will always be in its best shape. Some of the extra advices on how to fix windows problems fast, can be found here.

Positive Effects of Technology on Society

Technology runs in the veins of society. It is the fuel that drives our lives. It is an integral part of daily life. It has definitely benefited society. It has brought luxury in the life of the common man. The automation brought about by technology has saved human effort and time to a large extent. It has brought distant places closer and simplified information access. Let us look at some of the important areas, where technology has brought about a positive change.

Positive Effects of Technology on Society

Technology has automated many of the critical processes in the industry as well the household. The electronic gadgets that have entered the homes of the common man have saved him from the daily household work.

The automobile industry and technology are almost interwoven. Times have witnessed this industry evolve from mechanical scooters to automated aircrafts. Animals were the only modes of transport in the olden days. Technology was the driving force behind the creation and design of the modern-day automobiles. Bicycles evolved into scooters and sports bikes. The idea of having four-wheeled modes of transport gave rise to the creation of cars. Modes of air and water transport came up, thanks to technology.

Machines have automated many of the crucial industrial processes. Machines are now taking up many of the mundane jobs that were once executed by human workers. Technology has evolved to an extent where machines can perform tasks that are physically inaccessible to man. The use of advanced technologies like robotics and artificial intelligence has proved helpful in life-risking tasks like mining and space exploration.

The computer technology, needless to say, has changed the face of the world. Computers can store, organize and manage huge amounts of data. They can process large amounts of information. Computers have given rise to the software industry, one of the most progressive industries of the world. The Internet that seeded from the computer networking concepts is the most effective communication platform and the largest information base existing today.

The Internet has brought an important positive change to the entertainment and advertising industry. Advertisements can reach the masses within seconds over the Internet. The entertainment media has progressed only because of the advancements in technology.

The digitization of information has made it possible for us to store it in a compact form. Digitization enriches the quality of information storage. Digital voice and digital images are of a higher quality. Digital cameras and digital television provide their users with an enriched picture quality, thus bettering their experience with technology.

Cellular communication has revolutionized the communication industry. The conventional telephone, also a piece of technology, was one of the earliest technological developments in communication. Mobile phones have broadened the horizons of communication by enabling convenient long-distance calling.

Satellite communication is another important dimension of technology. Satellite TVs and satellite radios have eased the broadcasting of events across the globe.

These were only a few of the fields influenced by technology. It is almost impossible to enlist all the positive effects of technology on society. This was just a glimpse of the real big picture.

Use Google Calendar to Organize Yourself

A personal assistant can perform time management tasks for you. But if you do not have one then there is nothing to worry about. You can easily have a solution by using Google Calendar on your Desktop. The need to organize is a part of human nature especially if you are at some important position in a company; even if that is not the case, there are many people around you who expect you to remember their birthdays, wedding anniversaries and other related stuff. With the pressure of work or studies, it is physically impossible for a person to keep track of so many dates. Many of you must have had the embarrassing experience of making a commitment with your wife or a close friend for dinner or shopping and then having to cancel it because of any important meeting that was scheduled weeks ago and that somehow slipped your mind.

The desktop Google calendar helps you organize yourself in a better way. It has a number of features other than just being a plan calendar which ensure smoothness in your day to day planning. The most important feature in this regard is that it connects to your Google calendar directly, so all you have to do is to update your online calendar while checking your emails. You can put in birthday reminders, events, meetings, appointments and wedding anniversaries reminders etc. in your calendar. You will get emails and reminders on your desktop about all the upcoming events. But there is a problem here; the Google calendar on your desktop is read only meaning that you cannot update it directly like a number of other desktop applications. The editing, deleting and adding of new events has to be done from Gmail calendar.CLICK here to Download
