Samsung’s new phones will have flexible screens

Samsung‘s new mobile device lineup will feature flexible screens starting in 2012, the company announced today.

In its quarterly earnings call, Samsung’s vice president of investor relations, Robert Yi, told investors, analysts and press, “The flexible display we are looking to introduce sometime in 2012, hopefully the earlier part. The application probably will start from the handset side.”

After flexible-screen mobile phones roll out, the company plans to introduce the same technology for tablets and other devices.

In January 2011, Samsung purchased Liquivista, a strategic acquisition that will allow it to produce the kinds of displays that were announced today. Liquivista made electrowetting display technology, which is used to create mobile and other consumer electronic displays that are bright, low-power, flexible and transparent.

Flexible screen technology was also a focus of Samsung’s in March, when Yongsuk Choi, director of Samsung Mobile Display, gave an overview of the company’s future mobile device plans. At that time, Choi said most of the flexible-display technology Samsung was working on was still in very early stages.

Flexible displays have been on the fringes of up-and-coming mobile technologies for some time. For example, we saw a bendable e-reader from Plastic Logic back in 2008.

More recently, Sony, in particular, has shown some interesting work in the field, demonstrating its first flexible display at CES in early 2009 and showing off advanced, thinner, more flexible displays just last year.

Still, flexible screens aren’t something we’re seeing on the mass market yet; we wonder if consumers will warm to the idea when Samsung takes the wraps off these new devices.

Samsung recently surpassed Apple as the top smartphone manufacturer, shipping 27.8 million smartphones last quarter. Altogether, Samsung’s current share of the smartphone market is 23.8 percent.

How to Reinstall Windows XP

The solution that I’m about to tell you is going to save you several good hours of work.

But the nightmare just starts here, especially if you’re clueless about installing operating systems. So many configurations…fixes and updates to download. Remember that reinstalling or using XP’s system repair, removes all updates you’ve previously installed and resets many of your preferred settings!

And I haven’t mentioned reinstalling all your other third party software components and their drivers…

We’re talking of at least several good hours of tedious work here.

The following solution applies to both Windows XP Home/Professional.
It scans your entire operating system and creates an ‘image’ of your Windows system; it then compares it to an updated ‘optimal and healthy’ Windows XP ‘image’ that resides in its database.

Should it detect any problematic/corrupted sections/files/settings in your operating system that do not ‘fit’ to the optimal Windows XP ‘image’, it’ll automatically replace those parts with fresh and updated ones, pretty clever, isn’t it?

This way it fixes various Windows XP errors and problems.
So instead of reinstalling your entire system, it only ‘reinstalls’ or ‘replaces‘ the bad/problematic parts (takes around 30-60 minutes).

No need to backup/reinstall/configure anything.
I call it ‘how to reinstall Windows XP without having to reinstall it…’.

Tip! If your XP crashes immediately after restart, or if it restarts but you can’t install anything, then restart your PC again while pressing the F8 key until you get the option to select ‘Safe Mode’. Select that option so you can continue from there.

SPEEDING UP YOUR COMPUTER

Dealing with a slow computer can impact your business activities along with other things like your day-to-day internet browsing and saving some of your valuable files like pictures. If you have ever dealt with system freezes or those annoying messages that report errors when a program freezes, it is time to clean up your computer and make it run faster.



Whenever you are running the computer, make sure you don't have too many programs open. Having too many programs open at the same time will cause the computer to run slower than normal. Another reason why it may be running slower is because it may have defective hardware or it could be infected with a virus.
A simple way to make your computer run faster is to disable some of the programs on the StartUpmenu. This way the programs will remain stationary until you click on them and activate them. Another easy way to make your computer run faster is to add more RAM to it. RAM is short for Random Access Memory. This is what your computer will use to temporarily store files to keep all the open programs running properly. Having too many programs open at once will use up all your RAM, especially if you use some of the larger programs on your system like Adobe Pagemaker. Adding extra RAM to your computer will speed it up almost instantly. Adding more RAM to your system will allow the computer to have more areas to store the temporary files, allowing it the opportunity to run faster.
If you don't have enough RAM, the computer will start using your hard disk to store the data it needs. When the computer switches to the hard disk, you will have problems. Memory blocks often occur here because the computer cannot access the hard drive temporary files as quickly as it can with the RAM files. Try to keep all your programs on RAM memory versus the hard disk because the computer will need to swap back and forth from the hard drive to the RAM files, causing it to work twice as hard. When a computer is being pushed too hard, system crashes will occur and you can lose everything. Most people can get by with an extra 1 GB of RAM, but for the internet users that like to have multiple pages open at once, 2 GB of RAM is a smart decision.
Several computers run slower because of the overwhelming amount of junk files and programs that are stored on them. Most computers will come with antivirus software, but if you download your own software, you need to delete the other program or else it will just use up some of the memory you have available. Temporary internet files (cookies) can use up a lot of your extramemory and cause your system to run a lot slower. Temporary files will clutter the hard drive and cause windows to run a lot slower. If you have a virus or spyware on your computer, you can actually lose control of your Windows system.

An easy way to clean up some of these files is to open your internet browser, then select "Tools" and "Internet Options". There is a section that allows you to delete your browsing history, temporary internet files, saved passwords, cookies, and other files. Deleting some of these files will make your computer run much faster as the system has more RAM available.
